Computer:

A computer is a programmable electronic device that receives some data as input, performs certain operations, outputs the processed data, and keeps all the data within memories. It performs simple mathematics to advanced data management, telecommunication, and automation.

Importance of Computer:

1:Data Processing: Computer technology enables processing high volumes of input data accurately and in very short periods. 2:Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick, Touch Screen, Microphone, and Webcam are examples of Input Devices.
Output Devices
1:Output Devices are used to receive data from the computer and represent it on the screen. This includes visual, audio, and physical formate.
2:Monitor, Speaker, Printer,Headphones and a Projector are examples of Output Devices.

Input Devices:

An input device is used to send data and control signals to a computer and other processing devices. These devices allow the user to interact with other devices for the processing of data. 

1:Mouse:

A mouse is a hand-used input device that is used to interact with a computer’s graphical user interface (GUI). It consists of two buttons: the left side button and the right side button and between two buttons the scroll wheel is an added feature. Using the mouse will allow a user to guide around a cursor on the screen and interact with features such as icons, text, and buttons.

Applications of a Mouse:

i: Pointing and Clicking: It is used to select items and to open files and commands by clicking on icons, links, or buttons.

ii: Scrolling: the scroll wheel to work through long web pages or documents.

iii: Dragging and Plunging: Click anywhere and hold on a file, or object, then move your mouse and let go at a location you have chosen

iv: Right-clicking: Use context menus to reveal other options or shortcuts.

v: Selecting Text: Highlights the text for editing or copying by dragging your cursor across the desired area.

2:Keyboard:

A keyboard is an input device that permits users to enter data, text, numbers, and commands into a computer by pressing keys. It normally consists of keys arranged in a grid, including letters, numbers, function keys, and special characters. The keyboard consists of different key functions like Number lock, Capital lock, Escape Key, Space Bar, and Enter Bar.

Characteristics of a Keyboard:

Typing Text: This key is used for entering data, letters, numbers, and symbols in documents, emails, and other applications for quick response.

Shortcut Command: The combination of keys is used to execute the command as early as possible e.g. (Ctrl+C for copy text, Ctrl+V for paste data, etc).

Gaming: Provides controls for games, especially for movement, actions, and commands in PC gaming.

Programming: Allows developers to write code by entering commands, functions, and syntax into a development environment.

3:Microphone:

A microphone or electrophone is a professional device that changes sound waves into electric signals. It captures “sound” by converting the sound vibration into an electric power that can be heard, stored, transmitted12, or amplified.

Uses of a Microphone 

TELECOMMUNICATIONS: Microphones are used in telephones and VIP applications to transmit voice from one distant location to another.

Recording is vital in recording music, podcasts, and other forms of audio content. Broadcasting helps capture sound and transmit it in radio and television broadcasting.
